Windows Server 2008 RC0

Kurz nach der Veröffentlichung der ersten Windows Vista SP1 Beta Version wurde auch noch die RC0 (Release Candidate 0) Version von Windows Server 2008 den Betatestern zur Verfügung gestellt. Dabei handelt es sich exakt um den gleichen Build (6001.16659) wie bei Vista SP1. RC0 steht, wie auch schon der letzte Meilenstein Beta3, öffentlich für alle Interessenten in 4 verschiedenen Editionen (Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter und Web), in 5 verschiedenen Sprachen (Englisch, Deutsch, Französisch, Japanisch und Spanisch) und sowohl als x86 (32bit), x64 (64bit) und ia64 (Itanium) Version zum Herunterladen bereit. In diesem Build steht zum ersten Mal die Hypervisor basierende Virtualiserungstechnologie „Windows Server Virtualization“ zur Verfügung.

Sprachenwechsel

Das hier ist mein erster deutschsprachiger Blogpost überhaupt. Ich habe mich bereits beim Aufsetzen dieses Blogs (und früherer Blogs) die ultimative Frage gestellt: Deutsch oder Englisch? Bisher habe ich mich immer für Englisch entschieden, weil ich damit den Blog für alle meine Bekannten weltweit lesbar machen kann. Doch bloggen auf Englisch bringt auch einige Tücken mit sich: wenig Posts, sehr kurze Posts und auch meine nicht-perfekten Englischkentnisse machen den Blog auch nicht gerade besser. Darum habe ich mich jetzt entschlossen die Sprache auf Deutsch zu wechseln und nur noch selten englischsprachige Post in diesem Blog zu verfassen.

Steve Ballmer will show Microsoft Surface in Zurich

Recently I blogged about the Internet Briefing Event „Next Generation Internet“ with Steve Ballmer as the speaker of the keynote. And as it wasn’t spectacular enough that Steve Ballmer speaks there, he will also show Microsoft Surface (for the first time in Europe!) at this event! That’s just ..Wow! (What can I say more?)

First official Vista SP1 Beta out!

The first official beta version of the long awaited Windows Vista Service Pack 1 just got released an hour ago for Betatesters on Microsoft Connect. The version is available as an ISO file (Integrated) and as a standalone EXE file (Update). Can’t say anything more about it yet, as my download is still in progress and will take some hours.

Next Generation Internet with Steve Ballmer

Few days ago I registered for the Internet Briefing event „Next Generation Internet“, which takes place on October 4th in Zurich-Oerlikon. The main attraction of the event is probably the keynote of Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft: „The importance of User Experience in Digital Marketing“. After the keynote there is also a presentation about new generation internet applications from Sascha Corti and Stefano Mallè, and a discussion forum with various experts.
